They took my insurance, explained everything to me in great detail. EVERY SINGLE DAY I went in for treatment, I was warmly greeted by his staff by name. The technicians were fun (and cute), and absolutely made the best out of what could have been a stressful situation. Can't say enough about my experience with Dr. LaNasa and Dr. Sheperd (the robotic surgeon who explained that whole process to me).

How Does Robotic Surgery Work?

During your robotic surgical procedure, your surgeon will guide the da Vinci Surgical System instruments at a console while watching 3D high-definition images of the surgical area. Robotic instruments are able to make smaller, more precise incisions, allowing for less invasive surgical techniques. Will the Robot Be Performing My Surgery?

No, the robot does not perform surgery autonomously. A trained surgeon is in control of the robotic system at all times. The robot is simply a tool that assists the surgeon and enhances their capabilities during the operation.

Is Robotic Surgery Safe?
The da Vinci robotic system is entirely controlled by your surgeon. There are no automatic robotic movements. The enhanced vision and instrument control improve the safety of many complex laparoscopic procedures. A robotic approach is associated with reduced blood loss and less trauma to the anatomy surrounding the surgical site. Because the necessary incisions are small, wound healing is better than open surgery. Your surgeon is able to determine if a robotic approach is best for your surgery.
How Long Will It Take to Recover Following Robot-assisted Surgery?
