USMD Hospital in Arlington Named One of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas

By: USMD Team

3/25/2013

ARLINGTON, Texas – (March 25, 2013) For the second time, USMD Hospital at Arlington is among the 100 distinguished companies included on the list of “2013 Best Companies to Work for in Texas” featured in the April issue of Texas Monthly. Companies are selected based on data collected during a state-wide survey that is a joint initiative of Texas Monthly, the Texas Association of Business, the Texas State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management and Best Companies Group designed to identify and recognize the state’s best employers.

Now in its eighth year, the Best Companies survey is composed of two parts. Part one evaluates companies’ workplace policies, systems, philosophies and practices. Part two is an anonymous engagement and satisfaction survey that asks employees to rate their employers on a broad range of criteria. The employee surveys account for 75 percent of each company’s overall score. Combined scores determined the top companies and their final ranking.

“Providing our patients with exemplary care is a passion that is shared by everyone at USMD Hospital at Arlington, but to be successful in our mission we must be equally passionate about creating an exceptional workplace,” says Marcia Crim, RN, BSN, MS, the hospital’s chief executive officer and chief nursing officer. “Being recognized as one of the best companies to work for in the state is an honor that reflects the way our doctors, nurses, and medical and support staff feel about the professional culture we’ve established at USMD. Knowing that they feel valued and empowered to care for our patients in the best possible way is very rewarding.”

As part of USMD —an innovative, integrated health system led by physicians rather than third-party entities—USMD Hospital at Arlington has made an effort to break down silos. “Just as we are committed to restoring the vital doctor-patient relationship, we are equally focused on nurturing positive relationships among our staff,” says John House, MD, chairman and chief executive officer of USMD. “Creating an environment that promotes respect, open communication and collaborative problem solving is paramount. By working together we work better—and that means we can deliver better quality, more affordable care to our patients.

“My sincere thanks and congratulations to the entire team at USMD Hospital at Arlington for not only making it an exceptional hospital, but an exceptional workplace, as well.” This marks the second time USMD Hospital at Arlington has been selected for the Texas honor. The hospital first made the list two years ago in 2011. This year, the hospital ranked number 26 among the mid-sized companies (100 – 499 employees) honored in 2013.
