ARLINGTON, Texas – (August 1, 2012) USMD Hospital at Arlington has been selected as one of Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2012. The Best Places to Work program specifically recognizes, on a national basis, outstanding employers in the healthcare industry. The recognition program, now in its fifth year, honors healthcare workplaces that enable employees to perform at an optimum level, providing patients and customers with the best possible care, products and services. The program is co-sponsored by the Studer Group.

“To be recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare is such an honor,” said Marcia Crim, RN, BSN, MS, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Nursing Officer. “Hands down, our employees, doctors and nurses are what set our hospital apart and a recognition program like this confirms what we already know – we have a very engaged workforce committed to providing excellent patient care.”

The Best Places to Work program collects information from both the employer and employees and is open to companies with at least 25 employees. Employees are asked in-depth questions that result in an analysis in 8 core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits, and overall satisfaction. In October, Modern Healthcare will reveal the ranked order of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2012 during a banquet in Nashville.

Dr. John House, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of USMD Inc., commenting on the hospital’s most recent recognition said, “USMD’s Mission is to deliver better quality, more convenient and cost effective healthcare to patients. In our hospitals, we do this by delivering exceptional patient care through a specialized staff and by setting the standard for patient satisfaction and outcomes. Earning the distinction of being named one of Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare indicates USMD Hospital at Arlington is excelling in the core areas of leadership, culture and employee satisfaction. On behalf of the USMD Board and stakeholders, I want to congratulate the physicians and staff affiliated with the hospital on this prestigious accomplishment.”

USMD Hospital at Arlington is a joint venture with Texas Health Resources and meets the definition under federal law of a physician-owned hospital. Doctors on the medical staff practice independently and are not employees or agents of the hospital. A list of physician owners is available upon request.
